If you would like to adopt any of the rabbits or guinea pigs that we have at the moment, then call 01373 864222 for an appointment. You will need a very large hutch (at least 5'x2'x2') with a secure run permanently attached so the rabbits can go in and out as they want to. All our rabbits are re-homed in neutered, vaccinated pairs, but we also have single rabbits to use for match-ups for your lonely bunny. We charge a minimum donation of £40 for males and £45 for females (£85 a pair) as the neutering and vaccinating is very expensive, and this charge does not cover the basic costs. As an example for you to compare, neutering carried out privately will cost on average £70 for males, and £90-£130 for females, vaccination costing about £20 - £30 per rabbit per vaccine. This shows that rabbits adopted from CottonTails offers a new owner very good value for money as well as the reassurance of help and support should there be any problems in the future. There are 2 vaccines, VHD (viral haemorrhagic disease) which is given annually, and myxomatosis which needs to be given twice yearly. Guinea pigs are £10 each or £15 for neutered males, and are re-homed in pairs. We sometimes have single guinea pigs available for your lonely guinea pig. Please note that rabbits and guinea pigs should not be kept together.
We are currently needing volunteers to share the transportation of our rescued rabbits and guinea pigs to the vets in Bristol (RSPCA Clinic). One volunteer picks up the animals from us in Westbury at 7am and takes them to the vets for 8 – 8.30 a.m., and another volunteer makes the return journey in the afternoon, picking them up at about 3.30-4 p.m. Petrol expenses are paid. We try to have enough volunteers so that each one only has to make one trip a month. Can you help? If you can, phone me on 01373 864222 for details. Thanks!
We also need someone who is good with DIY! In the better weather, things like re-coating aviaries, sheds and hutches with quality wood treatment is always needed, and a variety of other tasks that appear unexpectedly.
WICKER/STRAW BASKETS AND FURNITURE WANTED!
I have found that our rabbits really love to sit on/destroy/generally play with old wicker and straw baskets and items of furniture, so if you are reasonably local to us and have a basket or other wicker or straw item you don't want any more, do drop it in to us! For video proof of how much rabbits enjoy baskets, have a look at the following:

TEMPORARY FOSTER CARERS
If you are local to Westbury and have a large hutch with a run attached that is not being used and would be willing to look after a pair of rabbits or a litter on an occasional basis if an emergency arises, then contact me for details. See entry on "Hop Off The Press" 1.10.07 for background info.

As CottonTails® is a relatively small charity, we often get overlooked by people when they are deciding which charity they are going to support, whether they are sending a donation, placing a standing order, or leaving a legacy in a will. As a result, we depend on our good reputation to enable us to attract the much-needed funding necessary for us to continue our work. If you are able to help CottonTails® in any way financially, even if it is only a small amount, we will be very pleased to hear from you. Below you will find a standing order form and also a Gift Aid form for you to use if this would be appropriate. Gift Aid is a scheme whereby we can claim back 20p in every pound donated if the person gifting the money is a tax payer (details on the form).
If you would like to send a donation direct to us, the address is: Sherbourne House, 47 Station Road, Westbury, Wiltshire, BA13 3JW. Should you wish to visit, however, an appointment must be made by phoning 01373 864222 beforehand. In order for CottonTails® to benefit from a legacy, it is strongly recommended that a will is drawn up by a solicitor to ensure that your request is carried out, as homemade wills can be vague and open to misinterpretation. If you wish to specify that a donation goes specifically to help with the vet and neutering costs, a donation can be given directly to the vets which would be held on our behalf and used as required. Vet details are available on request. www.cottontails-rescue.org.uk CottonTails®
CottonTails® rabbit and guinea pig rescue is a registered charity 1078850. Our mission is to re-home unwanted rabbits and guinea pigs within suitable new homes. We neuter and vaccinate every single rabbit, and re-home all our animals in pairs. Our overheads are low, but it still costs around £20,000 to care for over 400 unwanted pets we help each year. Your donation will greatly help our work. Please help us by signing this Gift Aid declaration. We will then be able to claim back an extra 20p for every pound you donate from the Inland Revenue (at no cost to you). Please click the link below, print and fill in the form to help CottonTails®.
